National Research Seminar on Consumer Protection & Consumer Welfare
Dear colleague,

                             It is our great privilege to invite you to the National Seminar on "Consumer Protection and Consumer Welfare" sponsored by Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. Final dates will be announced in our second circular.

Theme of the Seminar

                             "Consumerism" is likely to dominate the Indian market in the current Millennium, thanks to the economic reforms ushered in. The issues relating to consumer welfare affects the entire 1.12 billion people, since everyone is a consumer in one way or the other. Ensuring consumer welfare is the responsibility of the government. Accepting this, policies have been framed and the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, was introduced.

                             In this era of Liberalization many companies are entering the markets with offering of their goods and services. According to consumer's psychological behaviour producer may perhaps advertise when he has to inform the public about his introduction of a new model of the wfoduct or he may advertise ion order to attract potential consumers who have not yet tried his product . Producers are trying to enter in rural market with various aggressive and defensive marketing weapons to gain a greater share in the market. It is dangerous for farmers due to demonstration affect. Therefore consumer protection and consumer awareness is necessary for consumer welfare.

The Seminar shall discuss the following points :
1. Importance of Consumer Protection
2. Importance of Consumer Education and Awareness
3. Working of Consumer Courts/Forums
4. Negligence in Medical, Housing, Insurance, food Safety etc. with reference to consumer protection.

Call for Papers

                             Papers and abstracts are invited for presentation in the Seminar. Authors are requested to send two hard copies of their papers along with an abstract of about 500 words on A4 size. They are required to send soft copies of their full papers and abstracts in CD or by e-mail in MS Word format in 10 point Times Roman in case of English and/ or in 12 point KrutiDev 11 in case of Hindi.

                             The title should be written in 12 point bold capital, centered but not underlined. The name(s) of authors in 12 point. The word "Abstract" or "Full Paper" should be mentioned as the case may be at the top. The paper and the abstract should be typed in double space. The last date of submission of papers is 31st July 2007. The papers completed in above respect should be sent to :
